Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks student-athletes celebrated National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division III Week by hosting a Field Day for students from self-contained classrooms Friday.
Student-athletes participated in kickball, football and baseball and other games with the local students. A craft table was also set up for the students. Following the games, the visiting students ate lunch on campus with U of O student-athletes.
"It is a great experience and we always have a good time," said sophomore men's basketball player Skylar Barnes. "The happiness they have brings happiness to us. As athletes, we all make sure we are available to help with this. I enjoyed interacting with my group today. We created a good bond."
The event was organized by Ozarks' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Athletic Office Manager Lisa Thomas and Dr. Amy Oatis.
NCAA Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with a Division III institution to observe and celebrate the impact athletics and student-athletes have on campus and in the surrounding community.
