Eagles Make Plays Late To Secure Big ASC Win

The Eagles made all the right plays down the stretch to secure a big win over LeTourneau.

THE BASICS
The Eagles made all the right plays late in the game to secure a big 81-75 conference win over LeTourneau University Thursday night. The Eagles had Mabee Gymnasium rocking as Ethan Bowman broke a 72-72 tie at the 3:15 mark with a clutch shot. After LeTourneau trimmed the lead to 74-73, Bryson Johnson made a pair of high pressure free throws with 1:46 left. LeTourneau answered with a basket on its next possession, but the Eagles got another huge bucket from Bowman with 32 seconds left. LeTourneau didn't score again and Johnson had a basket and one free throw to seal the game. Johnson finished with 18 points and Jacobe Davis had 12 off the bench. Johnson and the rest of the Eagle guards held high-scoring Nate West to 13 points. The Eagles held a 44-29 halftime advantage before needing to hold off LeTourneau in the second half.
