THE BASICS
The Eagles made a couple of late runs to pull within striking distance, but it wouldn't be enough as Belhaven University took a 86-77 win Thursday night in conference play. The Eagles trailed the entire second half, but slowly got back into the game and climbed within 67-61 on a Jacobe Davis three-pointer. Cordy Winston hit a pair of big shots to close the gap to 73-69 with 2:03 remaining. But the Eagles never could take the lead as Belhaven made its free throws down the stretch. Davis had a big night hitting 4-of-6 from long-range to score 28 points. He went 12-of-21 from the field. Cory Wilhelm posted a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.
