
Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's basketball team received their American Southwest Conference Championship rings in a special ceremony Saturday at the men's soccer match.
Designed by Baron, the ring features the athletic logo in the center with the words 2021 ASC Champions in gold coloring surrounding the logo. The players' names are on the side.
"It was definitely a special day for the program," said head coach Travis Carruthers. "I was so happy for the guys. It takes commitment to win championships, and that is exactly what they did. They deserved this championship. It is something they will never forget."
Members of the team that received rings Saturday included: Zach Bobo, Zach Byrd, Seth Duke, Jacob Dukes, Ray Fresh, Lynden Gibson, Elvis Janga, Bryson Johnson, Carter Little, Thomas Myers, Grayson Nix, Darnel Renelique, Tim Turpin and Hunter Wright.
In March, the Eagles captured the American Southwest Conference title on their home floor with three straight tournament wins. Following the season, the Eagles racked up numerous conference awards. Bryson Johnson was named to the five-man All-ASC Team. Zach Byrd earned ASC East Division Co-Newcomer of the Year. Darnel Renelique earned a spot of the ASC East Division All-Defensive Team. Jacob Dukes was named to the ASC East Division All-Freshman Team. Zach Bobo was named to the ASC All-East Division Second Team. Johnson also made the ASC All-East Division First Team and Byrd was named to the ASC All-East Division Honorable Mention Team. Carruthers won ASC East Division Coach of the Year. Additionally, Johnson was named the ASC Tournament MVP, while Bobo and Byrd were named to the All-Tournament Team.
