Westminster Men Hand Eagles 1-0 Setback

Fulton, Mo.-Westminster College scored a goal in the first half and then held on in the second half to upend the men's soccer team 1-0 Friday afternoon in non-conference play.

Westminster (3-1-0), a member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC), earned its third straight win. The Blue Jays scored in the 18th minute and that would prove to be the game-winner. Ozarks (1-1-2) forced Blue Jay goalkeeper Raul Belman Romero into six saves, but couldn't get a shot past him.

"Westminster is physical SLIAC school and we just haven't found a way to score goals," said head coach Matt Torok. "We need to start faster and get more physical against teams that play direct and body up.  It's another lesson today where we need to fight each moment and finish our chances. We gave up an early goal and had to chase the game all day, but in the end we have to capitalize on all the chances we are getting and not let teams push us around."

Ozarks goalkeeper Austin Benner recorded seven saves.

Ozarks will face Webster University tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Louis Soccer Park.
