Late Goal Pushes Eagles Out Of Post-Season

Tyler, Texas-Concordia University Texas pulled out a 1-0 win Thursday with a goal in the 89th minute to eliminate the Eagles from the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament.

Concordia's possession in the second half proved to be too much for Ozarks (7-7-3) as the Tornados (12-2-1) were able to penetrate the Eagles' defense and net the game-winner when Farauz Abbaszadeh spun around a defender and found the net.

Ozarks possessed the ball in the first half to create scoring chances, including a flurry of shots early. The attack was fueled by a number of set pieces. During that span, the Eagles had back-to-back throw-ins to give the offense opportunities in the box.

In the second half, Concordia possessed the ball more than Ozarks and fired off 21 shots. Austin Benner recorded several outstanding saves to keep the match scoreless for nearly its entirety. Emilio Vega almost put the Eagles in front as he had a shot in the opening seconds of the second half, but his attempt went wide. Ozarks was limited to two shots in the second half as a result of Concordia's possession.

In all, Concordia recorded 32 shots, while Ozarks had seven. Benner notched eight saves.
