Eagles Qualify For Playoffs; Make 14th ASC Tournament Appearance

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks men's soccer team advanced to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament under first-year head coach Aaron Brueckner and will play Concordia University Texas November 3 in Richardson, Texas.

Ozarks is making its 14th appearance in the tournament.

Ozarks (10-5-3, 4-4-2 ASC) finished the regular season as the No. 5 seed and will face the No. 4 seed Tornados (12-4-0, 7-3-0 ASC). The semi-finals are scheduled for November 5, with the championship match on November 6. Texas Dallas won the regular season title and will host in the entire tournament.

"It is a great feeling to be able to contribute to the program's history," said Brueckner. "The guys have a good understanding that the playoffs are expected here. It is a tough conference because it is well-balanced. The scores among the tournament teams were close during the regular season."

Ozarks and Concordia also played in the tournament last season with the Tornados coming out on top 1-0 on a goal in the 89th minute. Concordia defeated Ozarks 2-1 October 29 in Clarksville.

Junior forward Bryce Young leads the team with 13 goals and 27 points. Stewart Mena and Thomas Ross each have six assists. Junior goalkeeper Luis Mena has recorded four shutouts in goal.

Concordia has a balanced offensive attack, with ten players scoring at least two goals. Concordia has posted eight shutouts on the season.

"Concordia is a great team overall," said Brueckner. "We now know a lot of about them after just playing. I think both teams will put everything out on the line. We played well against them in our regular season match. We are playing well and we have some confidence heading into the tournament."
