Gallaga, Valestin Named Volunteer Men’s Soccer Coaches

Pedro Gallaga and Logan Valestin.

Clarksville, Ark. – Fresh off an American Southwest Conference championship, University of the Ozarks head men's soccer coach Aaron Brueckner has announced the hiring of Pedro Gallaga and Logan Valestin as volunteer coaches.

Both Gallaga and Valestin were part of the Eagles' championship team in the spring and graduated in May.

"I feel really fortunate to have them on staff," said Brueckner. "They are both great guys and had successful careers here. Now they are giving back to the program in a different role. They will be good examples for our guys and are valuable assets to the program."

A three-year letterwinner, Gallaga was a two-time member of the ASC Academic All-Conference Team. Gallaga, a native of Willis, Texas, played in over 30 career games. He is an admissions counselor at Ozarks.

Valestin, from Bryant, Ark., will serve as the team's goalkeeping coach. Valestin earned multiple honors in 2021 including United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region, ASC Goalkeeper of the Year, All-ASC First Team and ASC Scholar-Athlete. A four-year starter, Valestin ranks third at Ozarks in career shutouts (16) and goals against average (1.18).

"They can provide great advice for our guys," said Brueckner. "They are well-rounded individuals. Pedro is working as an admissions counselor and Logan can mentor and coach three young goalkeepers. They will learn the goalkeeping position from someone who had a fantastic career here."
