Swim Team Competes In Day One Relay At Hendrix

Catherine Wellborn and the Eagles competed in day one at Hendrix.

Conway, Ark. – The Eagles competed in the Hendrix College Relays Friday night in Conway and will return Saturday for the Classic.

After day one, the men's team sits in third place with 270 points. The women's team is in sixth place with 84.

In the men's 300 fly relay, Gustavo Alamaraz, Jacob Jones and Josh Collins placed fourth with a time of 2:57.62. In the 300 back relay, the Eagles placed fourth (3:19.90) behind Nicolas White, Bailey Butler and Michael Vargas. In the 300 breast stroke relay, the Eagles had a fifth place finish with a time of 3:36.41 (Daniel Lopez, Nicolas Dunsworth, Nicolai Van Zyl). In the 800 free, the Eagles placed fifth with a time of 8:35.35 (White, Almaraz, Vargas, Jones). In the 400 medley, the Eagles posted a time of 3:54.19 for third place. White, Van Zyl, Collins and Jones swam in the event. In the 200 free, the Eagles had a second-place finish with a time of 1:33.40 (Lopez, Van Zyl, Collins, Jones). In the 1500 free, the Eagles placed fifth with a time of 18:41.78 (Dunsworth, Almaraz, Vargas). In the 400 medley, the Eagles (Collins, White, Dunsworth, Van Zyl) posted a time of 4:11.31 for fourth place. In the 400 free, the Eagles (Lopez, Butler, Vargas, Almaraz) swam a 3:58.49 for seventh place.

In the women's 300 fly relay, Shalley Coffin, Skylar Frazier and Catherine Wellborn placed seventh with a time of 3:47.83. In the 500 free, the Eagles placed seventh overall with a time of 5:53.11 (Skylar Epperson, Coffin, Frazier, Wellborn). In the 1500 free, the Eagles placed third with a time of 18:48.00 (Coffin, Frazier, Wellborn).

The Eagles will continue to compete in Conway at the Hendrix College Classic November 2.
