Men's Swim Team Cruises On Senior Day

Jacob Jones won two races on Senior Day.

Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles posted their second win of the season over Williams Baptist University with a 135-70 victory Saturday at the Clarksville Aquatics Center on Senior Day.

Prior to the race, the program honored seniors Jacquelyn Gearhart and Jacob Jones as part of Senior Day. 

The Eagles posted a time of 3:51.23 in the 400 medley relay to place second. That team consisted of Jones, Michael Walkine, Josh Collins and Nicolai Van Zyl. The squad of Nicolas White, Nicolas Dunsworth, Gustavo Almaraz and Michael Vargas swam a 4:15.24 for third place. In the 200 free, Dunsworth placed second with a time of 2:00.20. White followed with a time of 2:00.39. Almaraz was sixth with a time of 2:13.66. In the 50 back, Jones posted a time of 27.52, while Bailey Butler (30.35) and Vargas (30.88) finished second and third, respectively. Walkine won the 50 breaststroke with a time of 28.96 and Van Zyl followed with a time of 29.45. In the 100 fly, White placed third posting a time of 1:03.16 and Almaraz was fourth with a time of 1:07.34. Jones won the 50 free with a time of 22.23 and Van Zyl placed second with a time of 23.14. Walkine placed fifth swimming a 24.82. Jones also won the 100 free swimming a 49.14. Almaraz swam a 1:00.14 to place seventh. In the 100 back, Collins placed second with a time of 1:00.19. Dunsworth placed third with a time of 1:05.39. White was fourth with a time of 1:06.34. Van Zyl won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.11 and Walkine was second with a time of 1:07.40. In the 500 free, Dunsworth placed first with a time of 5:32.23. In the 50 fly, Collins swam a 26.79. In the 100 IM, Collins swam a 58.57. Walkine, Van Zyl, Collins and Jones won the 400 free relay posting a time of 3:33.63. White, Dunsworth, Almaraz and Vargas were second with a time of 4:05.60. The combination of White, Dunsworth, Van Zyl and Jones won the 800 free relay with a time of 8:02.21.

The Eagles will now prepare for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships February 12-15 in San Antonio.
