Vargas Breaks Diving Records On Senior Day

Michael Vargas broke two schools records in the diving competition on Saturday.

Clarksville, Ark.- The men's swim and dive team posted a 175-35 win Saturday over Williams Baptist University on Senior Day.

The Eagles had two teams in the 200 medley relay, with team one posting a 1:51.78 time and team two posting a 1:54.61, for first and second place. Wiley Grantham won the 1000 free with a time of 11:24.19. Ethan Spillers won the 200 free with a time of 1:55.69 and Tyler Hamrick placed second with a time of 2:02.48. Michael Vargas won the 50 back with a time of 30.66. Nicolas White placed second with a time of 30.83 and Tyler Young placed third with a time of 31.90. Nicolai Van Zyl won the 50 breaststroke with a time of 27.50. Spillers won the 100 fly with a time of 54.94. Isaiah Dial placed third with a time of 59.77. Van Zyl captured first in the 50 free with a time of 22.54. Vargas broke the one-meter 6 dive and 11 dive records. In the one-meter, 6 dive set, Vargas scored 182.10. Daniel Sanderson placed second with a score of 152.40. In the one-meter five set, Vargas posted a score of 124.88 and Daniel Sanderson scored a 123.30. Spillers won the 100 free with a time of 53.03. Dial was second with a time of 54.10 and Grantham was third with a time of 1:01.08. Young won the 100 back with a time of 1:11.67. Van Zyl won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.31. Hamrick was second with a time of 1:13.25. Grantham won the 500 free with a time of 5:32.95. Hamrick won the 50 fly with a time of 26.33, Dial was second with a time of 26.78 and Young was fourth with a time of 30.23. In the 200 IM, White was second with a time of 2:29.38. 

The team's three seniors – Nicolai Van Zyl, Michael Vargas and Nicolas White – were honored prior to the meet as part of a Senior Day Celebration Ceremony.
