Mississippi College Men Edge Regionally-Ranked Eagles In ASC Opener

Clarksville, Ark.-The Mississippi College men used momentum from a No. 3 doubles win to edge the regionally-ranked Eagles 5-4 in a key American Southwest Conference matchup Saturday in Clarksville.
    
Todd Turner and Bishop Bass won at No. 1 doubles 8-5, but Ozarks (0-1, 0-1 ASC) dropped its No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to give the Choctaws (3-0, 1-0 ASC) enough momentum to pull out a victory. At No. 2 doubles, Greg Knaggs and Corey Dillard lost 8-3 and Michael Skimbo and Tyler Keel dropped a hard-fought match 9-7.
    
Mississippi College took a win at No. 1 singles when Christian Branning beat Turner (2-6, 6-3, 6-3) in an intense match. Ozarks picked up a win at No. 2 singles after Bass gained a 7-6 (1), 6-2 victory over Matthew Martin. Mississippi College would eventually win at No. 3 and No. 5 singles to pull out a narrow conference win. 
    
Dillard won at No. 4 singles 7-6, 6-3 and Michael Skimbo earned a No. 6 singles win 4-6, 6-2, (10-7).

Ozarks is ranked No. 16 in the West Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Ozarks will travel to Longview, Texas, to face Howard Payne University and LeTourneau University March 6-7.
