Kerrville, Texas-The men's tennis team went 1-2 in Kerrville, Texas over the weekend in non-conference matches.
The Eagles (1-3) suffered a 7-2 setback against Sul Ross State University Friday, but came back to pick up a 7-2 win over Howard Payne University later that night.
"It was a great trip," said Dees. "It was just what we needed to get our season started. We played some really tough competition. There were a couple matches where we didn't play our best, but for early in the season, I saw great tennis from everyone this weekend. I am proud of the team. We are happy with where we are and the direction we're going."
Against Sul Ross, Ozarks picked up a win at No. 1 doubles with Jacob Organ and Dillon Murray taking a 8-2 victory. Murray would also win at No. 1 singles. He gained a 6-3, 6-4 win over Todd Bajaras. Against Howard Payne, the Eagles won all three doubles matches. In singles play, the Eagles won at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5.
On Saturday, Schreiner University handed Ozarks a 9-0 setback.
Ozarks will travel to Conway February 20 to face John Brown University and Hendrix College.
