Men’s Tennis Team Battles To A Spring Home-Opening Win

Clarksville, Ark.-The men's tennis team battled in a number of close singles to earn a 6-3 win over John Brown University Wednesday in their spring home-opener.

Ozarks (5-6) won just one doubles match on the day. Cole Lankford and Jonah Martinez posted a 8-0 win at No. 3. Singles play was an epic battle of two state rivals, with the Eagles winning five of six matches. Sebastien Ricard won at No. 1 (6-4, 4-6 (10-4) and Spencer Turner picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2. Jacob Organ battled to a 4-6, 6-4 (10-4) victory at No. 3, while Martinez earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5. Lankford gutted out a 6-4, 4-6 (13-11) win at No. 6.

John Brown falls to 2-7 overall.

The Eagles will travel to Pine Bluff to take on UA-Pine Bluff March 25 and then on to Jackson, Miss., to face Millsaps and Alcorn State March 26.
