Men’s Tennis Team Edges LeTourneau In Spring’s First ASC Action

Longview, Texas-The men's tennis team picked up a key 5-4 American Southwest Conference victory Saturday afternoon over LeTourneau University.

It was the Eagles first conference action of the spring season. Melle Van Duijn and Spencer Turner gained a 8-5 doubles win, while Cole Lankford and Jonah Martinez had a 8-3 victory. Van Duijn, Lankford and Alex Torbey posted wins in singles action. Torbey won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5. Lankford had a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4 and Van Duijn had 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1.

"The guys came out very solid today in doubles giving us a 2-1 advantage," said head coach Jeff Kutac. "It was nice team win with Alex clinching the match at 5-3."

The Eagles will face UT-Tyler Sunday in Tyler in another conference match.
