Bass ‘15 Named Assistant Tennis Coach

Clarksville, Ark.- Former University of the Ozarks men's tennis star Bishop Bass has been hired as the assistant men's and women's tennis coach, head coach Ryan Spencer announced this week.
     
Bass, a native of Greenwood, is among the top players that the men's tennis program has ever produced. He was a four-time All-Conference player and is the program's all-time leader in singles wins (49) and doubles wins (48). 

"We are very excited for Bishop to be on the coaching staff," said Spencer. "Bishop is a passionate coach and well known in the tennis community in Arkansas. He had an incredible playing career here at Ozarks and I know he will be a huge contributor for us as a coach. Bishop's expertise will help us to continue to progress as a program."

From 2012-2015, Bass posted a 49-9 singles mark for a .845 winning percentage, second-highest in school history. In doubles, he went 48-14 for a school record .774 winning percentage. Additionally, he holds the program record for most singles wins in a season with 14. He owns three of the top four winningest seasons in program history. He is also tied for the most doubles wins in a season with 14. He was the University's Male Athlete of the Year twice during his career. During his playing career, he was named the Conference Sportsmanship Athlete of the Year and Conference Freshman of the Year.

He graduated from Ozarks with a bachelor's degree in business management in 2015.
