Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks sophomore cross country runner Michael Harris was named the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Hero of the Week by Hero Sports Friday.
Harris, a native of Elkins, Ark., beat out six other runners for the weekly award, as voted on by fans at the web site HeroSports.com. Harris finished 11th at the University of Central Arkansas Cross Country Challenge last weekend in Conway. He topped all non-NCAA Division I runners at the race posting a 15:15.4 (3-mile).
Harris will now move on to be included in the end of the year voting for Hero Sports Legend of the Year, which looks at all of the top weekly performances in NCAA Division III men's cross country.
Ozarks will compete in the Rhodes College Invitational September 16.
