Lady Eagles Roll To 8-0

The Lady Eagles defeated the University of Dallas 8-1 in the championship game and beat Hendrix College 17-0 in the semi-finals. The Lady Eagles picked up two wins on Friday with a 8-4 victory over University of Dallas and a 5-2 win over Williams Baptist on Friday. "Winning the Hendrix Jamboree is a big boost for our team," said head coach Jon Janssen. "It's difficult to play some of the same teams you have already played because the girls can get complacent. But they were excited since they knew they had a chance to bring home some hardware." The Lady Eagles out hit Dallas 16-5 in the championship game. Leah Thompson and Amanda Luney each recorded 3 hits. Shannon Rainbolt, Sarah Fielder and Wendy Springer had 2 hits apiece. Thompson led the team with 4 runs batted in. Luney picked up the win and improves to 4-0 on the year. Luney was named Most Valuable Player of the Jamboree. Thompson and Rainbolt were named to the all-tournament team. "I'm tickled to death for the girls," said Janssen on his team's 8-0 start. "But we've got to continue to work hard. We have some tough competition in the conference cross-over games next weekend and our conference games start right after that."
