Lady Eagles Split With Arkansas Tech

Ozarks picked up a 6-4 win in the first contest, but dropped a 5-1 decision in the afternoon's finale. It was the second time this season Ozarks and Tech split in a double-header. The squads faced each other back in February where the Lady Eagles took the first game 7-2, but dropped the second game 2-0. A single by Regan Brown proved to be the game-winning hit as the Lady Eagles broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning to gain the victory. Brown recorded two RBI on the play when both Shannon Rainbolt and Devon Bottoms each crossed the plate. Ozarks would hold a 4-1 lead going into the sixth before Tech put three runs on the board to notch the score at 4-4. The Lady Eagles two-run third inning was highlighted by Brown scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI single by Kelly Bennett. Ozarks tallied seven hits in the game with Brown, Bennett and Jamie Johnson each recording two hits apiece. Amanda Luney (9-8) received the win after pitching a complete game. The Lady Eagles' fortunes turned against them in the second game as Tech scored four runs in the top of the seventh to grab the win. Tech first got on the board in the third inning after an RBI double by Terrise Williams. Ozarks would match Tech with a run of their own in the fourth inning on a RBI single by Leigh Thompson. Ozarks, however, was unable to put together a rally in the bottom of the seventh and finished the game with only one hit. Brandi Blake (8-9) received the loss. The Lady Eagles will host East Texas Baptist University April 25-26 in American Southwest Conference play in what will be their last games of the season. There will be a ceremony honoring senior Leigh Thompson prior to the 11 a.m. game on Saturday.
