Softball Team Sweeps LeTourneau

With the score notched at 4-4 at the end of four innings, the Lady Eagles (13-1, 7-1) used a five run fifth to take momentum of the game and end the contest with a 12-7 win in the day's opener. Ozarks' high-scoring inning started with an RBI by Jamie Johnson, which was followed by an RBI single by Shannon Rainbolt. Jodie Clark then knocked in Johnson. With the bases loaded, Brooke Grice singled in Clark and Kara Bartholomew to finish the scoring in the inning. LeTourneau (3-16, 2-8) would score three in the top of the sixth, but Ozarks answered with three of their own to end the game with a 12 runs. The Lady Eagles had 12 hits in the contest, with Rainbolt, Clark and Jeanne Randall pacing the squad with three hits each. Clark recorded 4 RBI in the game. Chanceree Catlett (4-0) received the win after pitching five and two-third innings while recording one strikeout. Ozarks won their ninth game in a row with a 14-6 victory in the final game of the series. Despite being out hit 11-10 in the contest, the Lady Eagles used timely hits to record a season-high 14 runs. LeTourneau held just one lead in the game as they jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the top of the first. Ozarks, however, answered with four runs of their own on doubles by both Grice and Dana Marvin. Each double knocked in two runs and gave Ozarks a 4-2 lead. The Lady Eagles weren't done, though, as they added three runs in the second and third innings and four runs in the fourth to run-rule the Lady Yellow Jackets. Marvin had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with 3 RBI. Marvin (5-0) also picked up the win after pitching five innings and striking out one. The Lady Eagles travel to Pensacola, Florida, to play in the University of West Florida Tournament held March 14-17. Ozarks will play Lincoln College and Huntington College on March 15 and will play two against Grand View College on March 16.
