Ozarks used a three run first inning and a two run fifth inning to upend the Lady Comets, 7-2, in the second game of Friday's twinbill. In the first inning and with two outs, Brooke Grice reached base on a single. Chelsea Joslin then knocked a double to left field to score Grice. Erica Newell followed Joslin with a double of her own to score Joslin. Dana Marvin gave Ozarks their final run of the inning when she slapped a single to right to knock in Newell. Joslin gave Ozarks a 4-1 lead in the third when she singled in Kara Bartholomew. In the fourth, Jessica Pianalto led off the inning with a double and would later cross the plate on a UT-Dallas error. With runners on second and third, Bartholomew ripped a single up the middle to record an RBI. Joslin recorded a sacrifice fly to give the Lady Eagles a commanding 7-1 advantage. From that point, Marvin allowed just one run the rest of the way. Ozarks collected 11 hits in the contest. Shannon Rainbolt, Bartholomew and Joslin each had two hits apiece. Joslin finished with 3 RBI. Marvin (2-4) received the win after pitching seven innings and striking out three. UT-Dallas needed just one run to gain a 1-0 win over Ozarks in what turned out to be a pitcher's dual. UT-Dallas starting pitcher Daci DeLeon frustrated Ozarks' batters for most of the contest, limiting the Lady Eagles to four hits. Ozarks' starter Chanceree Catlett used timely strikeouts to keep UT-Dallas off the board. Catlett had strikeouts to end the inning in the second, third, fifth and sixth. The Lady Eagles did have a chance to either tie the score or take the lead in the bottom of the seventh when Jeanne Randall came through with a two-out single. However, DeLeon recorded one of her eight strikeouts to end the game. The Comets' winning run came on a sacrifice fly in the third inning. Randall went 2-for-3 to lead Ozarks. Chanceree Catlett (1-6) received the loss. She had five strikeouts. Ozarks will host UT-Dallas tomorrow in a double-header beginning at 11 a.m.
