UT-Tyler Hands Ozarks Losses

In game one on Friday, UT-Tyler pulled away from Ozarks in the third inning by scoring four runs after holding a 2-1 lead. UT-Tyler then held the Lady Eagles scoreless over the next four innings to gain a win 6-1 win. Clark went 2-for-2 to lead the team. Catlett received the loss. In the second game on Friday, pitching seemed to dominate the game as both teams struggled at the plate. Ozarks collected only three hits while UT-Tyler had six hits, but scored five runs in route to a 5-0 victory. The Lady Eagles had two hits in the final inning, but were unable to get either runner across the plate. Marvin received the loss. Game one on Saturday saw UT-Tyler jump out to a 5-1 lead after the third inning and end the game with a 9-2 win. Ozarks got one run in the second when Jeanne Randall doubled in Pianalto and another run in the sixth when Bartholomew scored on a passed ball. Catlett received the loss. The Lady Eagles nearly pulled off a comeback in the final game of the series when they scored six runs and took a 6-4 lead in the top of the fifth inning. However, errors plagued the Lady Eagles all weekend and UT-Tyler took advantage of four Ozarks' miscues to pull out a 7-6 victory. Trailing 2-0 going into the fifth, Brooke Grice started the comeback with a double to left field to knock in Clark and Tiffany Armstrong. Newell then blasted a grand slam to give Ozarks a 6-4 advantage. The lead wouldn't last long, however, as UT-Tyler answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to gain the win. Six different players collected hits for Ozarks with Newell notching a game-high four RBI. Bottoms (0-1) received the loss. Ozarks will host East Texas Baptist University on April 8 and 9 in a four-game series.
