Hendrix College Records 30 Hits In Tuesday Sweep

The Warriors (16-16) won game one 11-7 and then took game two 11-3.

In game one, Stephany Henson singled in a pair of runs to put Ozarks (7-25) ahead 2-1 in the top of the second. But Hendrix tied with a run in the bottom half of the inning. The Warriors then plated six runs in the bottom of the fifth to break open the tight non-conference rivalry. The Lady Eagles came right back with three runs in the top of the sixth to pull within 8-5. Kelsey Mefford doubled in Nicole Ashley and Ozarks then took advantage of a pair of Hendrix miscues to score twice more in the inning. Hendrix got all three runs back in the bottom half and held off a late Ozarks' rally to secure the game. In the top of the seventh, Ashley and Ali Mathis each had RBI in the frame.

Henson (4-12) took the loss after tossing five innings.

Mathis and Morgan Goates each had two hits.

In game two, Hendrix jumped out to an 8-0 lead after two innings, fueled by a seven-hit attack. Sarah Otteman drove in a run in the third, while Henson and Mefford had RBI in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively.

Mefford (2-8) took the loss.

Kelsey Stephens and Goates finished 2-for-2.

The Lady Eagles will host Texas-Tyler this weekend in a four-game series beginning Friday at 2:00 p.m.
