Lady Eagles Rebound To Win Twice Sunday

The Lady Eagles (2-2) defeated William Penn 3-1 in game one and then took game two 16-7 over Lyon College.

Against William Penn (3-2), Ozarks scored first with two key runs in the opening inning on two hits. Miah Williams and Ali Mathis had back-to-back singles and Reagan Littlefield later walked to load the bases. With two outs, Shawnee Sorensen was hit by a pitch to push across the first run. William Penn then committed an error to allow Mathis to score, but the Statesmen answered with a run in the second to climb within 2-1. The Lady Eagles got the run back in the third when Littlefield hit a momentum-building solo home run. 

Tabitha McClane threw five shutout innings after the second frame.

Ozarks had four hits in the contest all of which came from different players.

McClane (1-0) received the win and was not charged with an earned run.

Ozarks produced 14 hits in a dominating win over Lyon College (1-9) in the afternoon game.

Ozarks led 3-2 after the first, but exploded for four runs in the second to extend its lead to 7-2 after just two innings of play. In the second, Ozarks had three hits, highlighted by a two-run double from Victoria Lemieux. Leading 11-7 after six innings of complete play, the Lady Eagles scored five more times in the seventh. Ali Mathis had an RBI single and Littlefield cranked out a three-run homer to put the finishing touches on an undefeated day. 

Littlefield went 3-for-5 with 4 RBI and Lemieux went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Amber Rollins received the win. She struck out 11.

Ozarks will travel to Farmers Branch, Texas, to play four games in the American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament March 1-2.
