Hardin-Simmons Softball Team Takes Two From Lady Eagles

Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles held a brief lead in game one Friday against Hardin-Simmons University, but ended the day suffering a double-header sweep in American Southwest Conference play.
    
In game one, Ozarks (2-15, 1-13 ASC) held a 3-2 advantage in the top of second behind a three-run triple from Molly Bowman. Bowman's bases clearing hit gave the Lady Eagles the momentum for a brief time. Hardin-Simmons (9-8, 7-7 ASC) came right back in the bottom half of the frame and took a 8-3 lead. Ozarks went scoreless in the top of the third, while Hardin-Simmons put the game out of reach with five more runs in the bottom of the inning. Ozarks did respond with three runs in the fourth highlighted by a Krysten Shavers blast over the centerfield fence. 
    
Ozarks had seven hits, but committed five errors. Bowman and pitcher Haley McKee each had two hits. McKee (2-6) received the loss.  
    
Hardin-Simmons then took a 8-0 shutout win in game two to complete the twin bill sweep. The Lady Cowgirls held a 5-0 advantage after the second inning and then added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth. 
    
Bailey Hames went 2-for-2 to pace the offensive attack. Tabitha McClane (0-5) took the loss.
    
Ozarks will finish its series with Hardin-Simmons tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
