Lady Eagles Snap Losing Skid With ASC Win

Brownwood, Texas-Kayla Gray went 4-for-4 with a homer and five RBI in a 7-6 game one loss Friday against Howard Payne University, but the Lady Eagles came back in game two and won 7-3 in American Southwest Conference play.    

Ozarks (2-24, 1-18 ASC) rallied from a 2-1 deficit with a five-run sixth inning to capture a 6-2 advantage. Gray highlighted the inning with a grand slam to put Ozarks in front 5-2. Kristen Millwood later drove in a run on a single to make it 6-2. The Lady Eagles totaled six hits in the frame. But Howard Payne (3-20, 2-17 ASC) answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth and three more in the seventh to win the game. Howard Payne would win the game on an RBI single.
    
Bailey Hames went 3-for-5 to compliment Gray's outstanding day.

In game two, the Lady Eagles scored six runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win. Ozarks trailed 3-1 after six innings, but pounded out five hits and took advantage of one HPU error to take a commanding 7-3 lead. Annie McDonald ripped a bases clearing double to fuel the offensive outburst. Michelle Edmiston and Shawnee Sorensen each went 3-for-3. Haley McKee pitched a complete game to receive the win.
    
Ozarks will finish its series tomorrow with a single game starting at noon.
