Softball Team Explodes For 15 Runs In ASC Win

Round Rock, Texas-The Lady Eagles pounded out 16 hits and exploded for 15 runs to pick up a 15-7 game three win against Concordia University Texas in American Southwest Conference action Saturday.

Ozarks (1-2, 1-2 ASC) opened the game with four runs in the first inning behind a two-run double from Kaley Coppock and an RBI single from Krysten Shavers. Ozarks plated its fourth run when Madison Cluck stole home. The Lady Eagles' offense continued its dominance in the second inning as it scored three more runs. Ozarks produced four more runs in the third. Shavers had a two-run double, and Erika Henderson and Hailie Gilbert posted an RBI apiece. Holding a 11-1 lead after three complete innings, the Lady Eagles posted three runs in the fourth. Shawnee Sorensen drove in a pair of runs on a single and Coppock again batted in another run. In the fifth, Beth Massey hit her first collegiate home run to give Ozarks its 15th run.

Coppock finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and two runs. Shavers finished 2-for-5 with 3 RBI. Massey, Henderson, Bethany Mason and Hailie Gilbert had two hits each.

Gilbert (1-1) received the win after tossing a complete game. She struck out three on the day.

Concordia falls to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the ASC.

Ozarks will host LeTourneau University in a three-game series February 20-21, with Friday's double-header starting at 1:00p.m.
