Special Olympics Basketball Tournament Coming to U of O

Special Olympics Basketball Tournament Coming to U of O

Clarksville, Ark.-The annual Special Olympics Unified Basketball Tournament is slated for Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Mabee Gymnasium on the campus of the University of the Ozarks.

The event, which will be sponsored by Forrester-Davis Development Center, brings together Special Olympians from Johnson County and the surrounding region. Ozarks student-athletes have a long history assisting with both the tournament and the Special Olympics programs.

Yet with a tournament of this size, Forrester-Davis is currently seeking additional volunteers to serve as referees, score keepers, and partners for the participants. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and lunch will be provided for those who volunteer their time.

"When the community gets involved in these events, it brightens the spirits of the Special Olympians," said Ashley Bush, who is helping to coordinate the tournament. "There is still plenty of time to get involved, and doing so can only help strengthen the cause of the Special Olympics by just displaying support and encouragement."

If interested in volunteering, please contact Bush via email at abush225@ozarks.edu.
