Amid Snow, Lady Eagles Rally Falls Short In ASC Double-Header

Clarksville, Ark.-The Lady Eagles mounted a late-inning rally only to have Louisiana College secure a 9-8 game two win to complete a double-header sweep Friday in American Southwest Conference action.

With snow falling and temperatures in the mid-20's in game two, the Lady Eagles (2-6, 2-6 ASC) fought back in the bottom of the seventh behind five hits. Madison Cluck started the rally with an infield single. With one out, Beth Massey was hit by a pitch and then Kaley Coppock delivered an RBI double to bring the score to 9-5. Laken Gray followed with a single down the left field line to plate another run. Kayla Gray followed with another hit, this time a single to right field to score one more. Still trailing 9-7 and with one out, pitcher Hannah Oler ripped a single up the middle to drive in the eighth run. However, Louisiana College (9-1, 8-0 ASC) was able to get a pair of infield groundouts to end the game.

Louisiana College built a 8-0 lead after four and one-half innings before the Lady Eagles scored four runs to pull within 8-4. The inning was highlighted by a two-run triple from Oler and a two-run homer by Ryan Gibson.

Oler paced Ozarks at the plate with a 2-for-3, 3-RBI performance. Oler (0-2) was the unfortunate loser in the circle as she threw all seven innings.

The Lady Eagles came up short in game one 9-1 in five innings. Ozarks did hold a 1-0 advantage after one inning of play on a Lady Wildcat error. Louisiana College posted four runs in the fourth to put the game out of reach.

Hailie Gilbert (2-3) took the loss.

Ozarks will finish its series against Louisiana College tomorrow in a single-game starting at 12:00 p.m.
