Lady Eagles Record Double-Header Sweep Against Hendrix College

Conway, Arkansas- The Lady Eagles took a double-header sweep of in-state rival Hendrix College Wednesday behind some timely hitting and an explosive offense.

Ozarks (6-7) took a 5-4 win in game one and then posted a 12-3 victory in game two.
    
In game one, Ozarks generated runs when it needed to, producing a run in the second to tie the contest and then taking the lead for good in the third with two runs. The Lady Eagles later produced two more runs in the fifth. In the second frame, Erika Henderson had an RBI single, and in the third, Kaley Coppock had an RBI double and Hailie Gilbert had an RBI single. Leading 3-1, Ozarks put two more runs to hold a 5-1 cushion. Hendrix (3-4) did answer with two runs in the bottom of the fifth and a run in the sixth, but Gilbert retired the side in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.
    
Gilbert had two hits to help her own cause as she also picked up the win to move to 5-3 on the season. Henderson finished with two RBI.
    
In game two, Ozarks jumped all over the Hendrix pitching staff to produce five runs in the first and six more in the third. After three complete innings, Ozarks led 12-1 and collected15 hits. Krysten Shavers, Kayla Gray, Carlee Shelton and Henderson all recorded RBI in the first inning. In the second, Ryan Gibson hit a solo home run and in the third, Shavers and Shelton highlighted the inning with two-run hits.
    
Gibson, Henderson and Shelton paced Ozarks with three hits each.
    
Abigail Mork (1-0) received the win after tossing five innings as the starter.  

Ozarks will host Hardin-Simmons University in a three-game series March 13-14.
