Massey opened the game's scoring with a one-out solo home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the first inning. It was Massey's second homer of the season. But Massey did most of her damage in the next inning when she tripled in three runs. Laken Gray started the bottom of the inning off with a single up the middle, and later advanced to third base on an error and a passed ball. Pitcher Hailie Gilbert then helped her own cause by matching Gray with another hit up the middle to score one. Shawnee Sorensen then drew a walk, and with two outs Bethany Mason patiently drew another walk to load the bases. That gave Massey an opportunity to drive in runs, and the second baseman did just that when she laced a triple to right field. After her triple, Ozarks (7-7, 5-7 ASC) led 5-1. The Lady Eagles added two more runs for Gilbert in the third on a Sorensen sacrifice fly and a Mason bases loaded walk. Hardin-Simmons (6-8, 3-7 ASC) did score three runs in the seventh, but Gilbert closed the door as she forced a groundout to end the game.

Ozarks totaled 12 hits in the game. Five different players had two hits for Ozarks. Gilbert improved her record to 6-3 with a complete game performance. She fanned four.

Ozarks will finish its series against Hardin-Simmons tomorrow with a double-header starting at 10:00 a.m.
