No. 3 East Texas Baptist Tops Lady Eagles In Double-Header

Clarksville, Ark.-Nationally-ranked East Texas Baptist University swept the Lady Eagles in a double-header Friday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.

It wasn't easy though as Ozarks (12-18, 6-16 ASC) put up a fight in both losses. In game two, the Lady Eagles left six runners on base in a 5-0 loss. ETBU (21-2, 17-2 ASC), ranked No. 3 in NCAA III, took game one 6-1 win behind a 14-strikeout effort from pitcher Shelby Parker.

Parker turned in an impressive performance, allowing just two hits, and had a perfect game through four innings. She struck out eight of her first nine before Ozarks recorded both of its hits in the fifth. Erika Henderson would drive a single through the left side of infield to score Peyton Winkfein to cut the deficit to 4-1. However, Parker wouldn't allow a hit after that. Hailie Gilbert (9-9) took the loss as the starter.

In game two, Hannah Oler kept ETBU off the board until the fifth. Prior to that, Oler cruised through the first four frames matching Parker in game one. Oler was just as impressive, striking out the first three batters she faced, and didn't allow a hit until the third inning. ETBU would score five times in the fifth behind four hits. Ozarks had a chance to break the game open in the third loading the bases with no outs. However, ETBU pitcher Kelly Jo McLendon escaped with no runs after notching a strikeout and then forcing a double play.

All five of Ozarks' hits came from different players. Oler (2-6) took the loss.

Ozarks will finish its series against ETBU tomorrow in a single-game starting at 12:00 p.m.
