Louisiana College Slips Past Ozarks

Clarksville, Ark.-Louisiana College got a two-out RBI single that proved to be the game-winning run in the fourth inning to upend Ozarks 3-2 in American Southwest Conference softball action Friday night in game one.
    
Louisiana College (7-1, 5-0 ASC) then escaped with a 4-3 win in extra innings in game two.

Ozarks (2-3, 2-3 ASC) scored in the first inning behind a Krysten Shavers sacrifice RBI. Louisiana College answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning and then took a 2-1 lead in the second frame. Ozarks would mount a rally in the seventh inning as Hannah Oler hit her second home run of the season. The solo homer pulled the Eagles within 3-2, but Louisiana College secured the game with back-to-back strikeouts.

Abby Mork (2-1) took the loss for Ozarks.

In game two, Ozarks evened the score in the fifth 1-1. Neither team would score until the eighth. The Eagles plated two runs in the top of the eighth on an Oler RBI single and a Haleigh Moore RBI double. But Ozarks couldn't keep the lead as the Wildcats rallied from behind to score the decisive four runs it needed in the bottom half of the inning, all of which came with one out.

The Eagles pounded out nine hits, with Beth Massey and Oler each finishing 3-for-4. Oler (0-2) took the loss.

Ozarks will finish its series against Louisiana College tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
