Hendrix College Softball Team Takes Tuesday Double-Header

Conway, Ark.-Hendrix College plated five runs in the fifth inning to open up a close game and gain a 8-2 win over the Eagles in game one and then took a 8-0 victory in game two Tuesday night.

In game one, Hendrix (9-10) led 3-0 after the third frame, but Ozarks (5-9) answered with two runs in the fourth. Hailey Ostrander ripped a single up the middle to score Hannah Oler and Beth Massey. Oler reached on a single, while Massey drew a walk. Trailing 3-2, Ozarks committed three errors in the fifth inning to allow Hendrix to take a 8-2 advantage. Ozarks was unable to generate any baserunners in the sixth, but did have back-to-back hits to open the top of the seventh. However, Hendrix was able to end the threat with three straight outs.

Ozarks produced four hits. Abby Mork (4-6) took the loss for Ozarks.

Ozarks' bats struggled in game two as it recorded only two on the night. Hendrix posted a pair of runs in the first inning and then added another run in the third to gain a 3-0 advantage. Hendrix moved ahead 6-0 in the fourth as the Eagles struggled to get anything going offensively. Hendrix ended the game in run-rule fashion as it scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Oler (1-3) took the loss in the cirle.

Ozarks will travel to Longview, Texas, to face LeTourneau University March 18-19. Ozarks will then head to Shreveport, La., to face Centenary College for a double-header March 20.
