LeTourneau Edges Softball Team In Friday Double-Header

Longview, Texas-LeTourneau University scored the game's only run to edge the Eagles 1-0 Friday in game one and then held off a seventh inning rally from Ozarks in game two to take a double-header sweep.

In game one, LeTourneau (10-12, 7-9 ASC) produced its game-winning run on a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. The game had a combined 11 hits, with LeTourneau recording six of those. Ozarks (5-11, 5-9 ASC) scattered all five of its hits in different innings.

Abby Mork (4-7) took the loss. Hannah Oler paced Ozarks at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance.

Ozarks made a valiant comeback in the seventh, scoring three runs on four hits, but fell 8-6 in game two. Ozarks posted four straight hits to start the seventh, with Haleigh Moore and Brooke Hoffsommer driving in runs with doubles to trim the deficit to 8-6. LeTourneau, however, ended the game with back-to-back strikeouts. Fueled by a Krysten Shavers three-run homer, Ozarks and LeTourneau were tied in the top of the third. But LeTourneau responded with three runs in the bottom half of the third to take the lead for good. Shavers finished with a double, a home run and three RBI in four at-bats. Moore and Kayla Gray each had two hits. Oler (1-4) took the loss.

Ozarks will finish its series with game three tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
