Ozarks Clinches Game Three Win With Four-Run Sixth Inning

Longview, Texas-The Eagles won game three of its series against LeTourneau University with a 5-4 come-from-behind victory Saturday fueled by a big sixth inning.

LeTourneau (10-13, 7-10 ASC) opened the game with three runs in the first frame. Ozarks (6-11, 6-9 ASC) responded with one run in the third when Haleigh Moore crossed the plate on Laken Gray's hit to the third baseman. Ozarks then produced four runs on four hits in the sixth to take the lead for good. Krysten Shavers and Beth Massey posted back-to-back singles and Emily Miller recorded a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners to start the sixth. Kyla Gray then ripped a single to left field to bring in a pair of runs and even the score at 3-3. After another single by Peyton Winkfein, Hailey Ostrander recorded a fielder's choice to load the bases with one out. Moore's ground out pushed Kayla Gray across the plate and gave Ozarks a 4-3 advantage. Brooke Hoffsommer followed with an RBI to put Ozarks in front 5-3. LeTourneau did answer with a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Ozarks would hold the YellowJackets scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win.

Hannah Oler (2-4) received the win. Massey and Moore ended with two hits apiece.

Ozarks will travel to Shreveport, La., to face Centenary College March 20.
