Massey Hits Grand Slam In Friday Softball Split

Clarksville, Ark.-Beth Massey hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to help Ozarks secure a 7-2 win in game two and a split with Texas Dallas Friday in American Southwest Conference play.

Ozarks (8-22, 8-18 ASC) would drop game one 8-0. Nonetheless, the Eagles broke out of a slump fueled by Massey's home run. The game was even 1-1 after four innings before Ozarks posted a run in the fifth on Hannah Oler's single. With the bases loaded, Massey followed Oler in the lineup and crushed a pitch over the left field fence for a grand slam. Ozarks then held the lead the remainder of the contest. Laken Gray, Krysten Shavers and Oler had an RBI. Massey finished with four RBI. Haleigh Moore and Oler each had two hits, while Massey finished with one. Oler (3-7) also pitched six and one-third innings to receive the win.

In game one, Texas Dallas (18-18, 14-12 ASC) homered in the first and then scored four times in the third to move in front 6-0. Ozarks collected five hits, all coming from different players, in the game. Ozarks left eight runners on base. Abby Mork (5-12) took the loss.

Ozarks will finish its series against Texas Dallas tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
