Katie Ventress Named ASC Hitter of the Week

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks junior designated player Katie Ventress was named the American Southwest Conference Hitter of the Week, it was announced Monday by ASC Media Relations Director Jimmy Glenn.    

Ventress, a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., hit .450 with two homeruns and eight RBI over seven games last week. Ventress went a perfect 3-for-3 with a homerun and two RBI to open the week against Blackburn College. She also homered against LeTourneau in game one of the series. She followed that performance by ripping a double and driving in a pair of runs in game two. For the week, she pounded out nine hits and scored six runs. Ventress tossed a complete game in a win over LeTourneau and drove in two runs to help her cause.

For the season, she is hitting .344 with four homeruns and 17 RBI. She owns a .594 slugging percentage and has tallied four doubles.

Prior to Ozarks, Ventress starred at Rose State College where she earned First Team All-Region and Third Team All-America honors.
