Big Sixth Inning Pushes East Texas Baptist Past Eagles

Clarksville, Ark.-The No. 6-ranked East Texas Baptist University Tigers softball team opened up a tight game with a big sixth inning to propel the nationally-ranked program
to a 8-1 win over the Eagles in American Southwest Conference play Saturday.

Leading 4-1 after five complete innings, the Tigers (24-6, 16-5 ASC) scored four runs on four hits in the top of the sixth to secure game three of the series. East Texas Baptist posted three runs in the first inning and another in the fourth, but Ozarks (6-22, 4-20 ASC) responded with a run in the bottom half of the fourth. Brooke Hoffsommer doubled to left centerfield, and Hannah Oler later followed with another double to score Hoffsommer. In the fifth, Ozarks got a spectacular defensive play from shortstop Hailey Ostrander. With one out, Ostrander robbed Lacey Lindsey of a hit when she extended her full body to her left and made a diving catch from a line drive. But the Tigers overcame the play and plated four runs the next inning.

The Eagles were limited to three hits in the contest. Oler (3-12) received the loss.

The Eagles will travel to Tyler, Texas to face UT-Tyler April 7-8.
