ASC Awards Softball All-Conference Honors

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks softball players Katie Ventress, Brooke Hoffsommer and Hannah Oler and were named All-Conference by the American Southwest Conference, it was announced Tuesday, May 2.

Ventress, a junior designated player/pitcher from Oklahoma City, Okla., made the Second Team as a designated player, Hoffsommer, a junior centerfielder from Alma, Ark., made the Honorable Mention Team and Oler, a junior designated player/pitcher from Needville, Texas, made the Honorable Mention Team as a utility player.

Ventress led the team in batting (.289), hits (28), total bases (44), home runs (4), RBI (17), slugging percentage (.454), walks (13) and on-base percentage (.373). She also recorded four doubles, and finished with seven multiple-hit games. In her debut at Ozarks, she homered and drove in three runs against Howard Payne University. Against Blackburn College, she went 3-for-3 with two RBI. In the circle, she threw 69.2 innings and struck out 25.

Hoffsommer led the team with 18 runs and 111 at-bats and ranked second in hits (25) and total bases (30). A starter in all 37 games, Hoffsommer had six multiple-hit games. She scored two or more runs in four different games. Against Howard Payne, she drove in three runs and scored three runs against Blackburn. During a 12-game stretch in March, she hit over .350. Hoffsommer was also All-Conference in 2015.

Oler led the team in innings pitched (123.0) and strikeouts (27), while also homering and driving in seven runs. In the circle, she led the club in complete games (14) and recorded one shutout. As a pitcher, she had five strikeouts on two occasions. Against Howard Payne, she threw a complete game and didn't allow a run while scattering three hits. In a win against Sul Ross State University, she didn't allow an earned run over seven innings. At the plate, she went 3-for-4 against Texas Dallas. Oler was also All-Conference in 2016 and 2015.
