Laken Gray Named Assistant Softball Coach

Clarksville, Ark.-Former University of the Ozarks softball standout Laken Gray has been named the new Assistant Coach, Head Softball Coach Roland Rodriguez announced Friday (September 15).

Gray, a native of Pottsville, Ark., was a three-year letterman at the catcher position. Gray holds the single season record for most runners thrown out (14) and the career record for most runners thrown out (32). She hit over .300 the 2015 season and had 12 career doubles.

"It is exciting to have Laken back in the program," said Rodriguez. "She represented our team in a quality way, and to have her coach, lead and provide guidance is great for our program. She will be a quality model for the players. One of her strengths is how she relates to the players and she is an excellent communicator. She had the respect of the players when she played."

She was two-year member of the American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team.

She starred at Pottsville High School where she named All-State and All-Conference her senior season.

She earned a bachelor's degree in health science from Ozarks and graduated with cum laude honors.
