Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks softball players Paige Lee, Megan Madden, Abby Mork, Hailey Ostrander, Candace Rogers and Taylor Teague were named All-Conference by the American Southwest Conference, it was announced Tuesday, May 7.
Teague, a sophomore utility player from Hope, Ark., was named to the All-Conference Third Team. Lee, a freshman second baseman from Jerusalem, Ark., Mork, a senior pitcher from Aurora, Colo., Madden, a sophomore outfielder from Flower Mound, Texas, Ostrander, a senior shortstop from Alma, Ark., and Rogers, a freshman pitcher from Batesville, Ark., made the Honorable Mention Team.
Teague hit .324 and ranked second on the team with 33 hits. Teague also recorded five doubles, one triple, 17 runs and drove in 13 runs. She recorded the game-winning hit against LeTourneau in game three to help the Eagles win the series. She posted ten multiple-hit games during the season and hit safely in 21 games. In game two against Hardin-Simmons, she went 3-for-5 with four RBI. She owned a .967 fielding percentage.
Lee led the team in nearly every offensive category including batting (.377), hits (46), doubles (8), RBI (31), slugging (.508) and total bases (62). She also had two home runs and five steals. At the end of the regular season, she ranked 13thin the ASC in batting. She finished with 11 multiple-hit games. In game three against Louisiana College, she had three hits, two runs and two RBI. She homered and drove in three runs against Hendrix College. She hit safely in 33 of 40 games.
Madden hit .304 with 31 hits and 19 runs. She ranked third in the ASC in sacrifice bunts with eight. She also recorded three steals and 32 total bases. Madden owned a .961 fielding percentage. She had three hits against Hendrix College and Louisiana College and finished the season with eight multiple-hit games. She scored two runs against four different opponents.
Mork posted six wins in the circle and struck out 49 in 123.1 innings of work. Mork was the team leader in innings pitched, strikeouts, appearances (26), complete games (9) and shutouts (2). She ranked fifth in the ASC in innings pitched, third in appearances and fifth in games started (20). Against Sul Ross State, Mork threw a one-hitter over five innings to receive the win. In a complete game against Louisiana College, she fanned five. Against Hendrix College, Mork tossed a complete game allowing just one earned run and striking out three. She finished her career in the circle with a complete game against Hardin-Simmons striking out a season-high six. At the plate, Mork had five doubles and drove in nine runs. Mork is a two-time All-Conference player.
Ostrander hit .320 with 32 hits, 16 runs and 33 total bases. She led the team with seven steals. Ostrander posted a .956 fielding percentage from her shortstop position. She ended the season hitting .526 over her final five games. She had two hits and three runs against Central Baptist and recorded three hits against Hardin-Simmons in game one and game three. Ostrander is a two-time All-Conference player.
Rogers posted six wins in her rookie season while tossing 86.1 innings. She fanned 28 batters and appeared in 24 games, second-most on the team. She also recorded four complete games and one save. She finished fourth in the ASC in games finished with 11. She threw a complete game in her second outing of the season to receive the win. She tossed a complete game against LeTourneau scattering four hits and allowing just one earned run to pick up a win.
