McMurry Softball Team Hands Eagles Loss In Conference Opener

Brittney Dean and the Eagles opened the conference season on the road.

GAME ONE

Overview: 
McMurry University took advantage of two Eagle errors to pick up a 4-0 win in game one. The game was scoreless until the third inning when McMurry accounted for two runs, both of which were unearned. The Eagles committed another costly error in the fifth inning allowing two more runners to cross the plate. Starter Jaela Martin pitched a strong seven innings allowing just one earned run and six hits. The Eagles offense recorded four hits in the game.

GAME TWO
Overview: 
The Eagles gave up a big home run in the seventh inning to be run-ruled 13-5 in game two. Tori Reiber singled in a run to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead. McMurry responded with five runs in the second inning. The Eagles fought back to score two runs in the third behind a wild pitch and an RBI single from Candace Rogers. But McMurry answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 9-3 lead. In the sixth, the Eagles generated two runs, but McMurry put the game away with a home run in the bottom half. Elisa Cantu went 3-for-4 and Riki Haase finished 2-for-3.
