Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks softball team provided volunteer service at Alzheimer's Arkansas Drive-In Movie event in Clarksville last weekend.

Alzheimer's Arkansas provides a series of drive-in movies across the state to raise funds for caregivers in Arkansas.

The softball players helped unload and setup up the movie equipment, directed parking and organized donations. Following the fundraising event, the team was part of the tear down crew and re-loaded the equipment on trucks. The team also assisted in cleaning the parking lot afterwards.

"It was a lot of fun for us to participate," said senior Jaela Martin. "I really enjoy volunteer work especially for such a worthy cause. The people from Alzheimer's Arkansas were very grateful. I'm thankful for the chance to help."

Martin, who serves as campus President of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry and is a member of FCA, is happy to give back to the community that supports Ozarks' students.

"It's important to support our community because they support us," she said. "As athletes, it shows our community that we not only take out sports serious, but we also help our community and school."

Members of the wrestling team and women's basketball team joined the softball players at the showing of "A Dog's Purpose" that night.

According the Alzheimer's Arkansas web site, the organization's mission is to help family caregivers in Arkansas whose loved ones are affected by Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. More information on how to support the organization can be found at alzark.org.
