Softball Team Splits DH At Hendrix College Invitational

Blaise English homered for the Eagles in a win against Hendrix College.

GAME ONE
Overview:
Conway, Ark.-Mississippi University for Women opened the game with five runs and then held off the Eagles to claim a 10-7 win in the Hendrix College Invitational. The Owls would score five runs on four hits in the first, but the Eagles responded with two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to make it 5-4. In the fourth, Lauren Gill had an RBI double and in the fifth, Mack Lucio recorded a two-run double. The Owls answered with two runs in the top of the sixth and then added three runs in the top of the seventh. The Eagles rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough. Sierra Jasna tripled in a run and Lucio hit a two-run homer in the seventh.

GAME TWO
Overview:
The Eagles had a solid performance at the plate, in the field and in the circle to pick up a 8-2 win over Hendrix College Sunday. The Eagles generated 12 hits and did not commit an error for starting pitcher Mack Lucio. Lucio tossed a complete game and struck out five while limiting the Warriors to no runs in the final five innings. Hendrix did score once in the first and second inning to hold a 2-0 advantage. But the Eagles evened the score after a Blaise English RBI double and a Lauren Gill RBI single. In the fifth, the Eagles took control of the game scoring four runs. Lucio helped her own cause by ripping a two-run double. English later followed with a two-run homer to make it 6-2. Lucio then retired the side in the bottom half of the fifth. The Eagles gave Lucio more run support in the seventh with two runs on two hits. English finished 2-for-3 with four RBI.
