Softball Duo Receives All-Conference

University of the Ozarks softball players Hayley Rivett and Alison Cowart received recognition from the American Southwest Conference.

Clarksville, Ark.- University of the Ozarks softball players Hayley Rivett and Allison Cowart received recognition from the American Southwest Conference, the league office announced Wednesday (May 17).

Rivett, a junior utility player from Berryville, Ark., was named to the All-Conference Third Team. Cowart, a junior outfielder from Bentonville, Ark., made the Honorable Mention All-Conference Team.
     
The power-hitting Rivett was among the most productive offensive players in the ASC. At the end of the regular season, she led the ASC in home runs with eight and ranked among the ASC's top-10 in RBI with 26. She led the team in nearly every major offensive category, including batting (.343), hits (35), slugging percentage (.647), on-base percentage (.385) and runs (17). Her eight home runs are the third-most in a single season. Her RBI total are the fifth-highest in program history. Rivett opened the season going 10-of-12 with ten RBI in the first three games. In the first game of the season, she went 4-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI. She ended the season with seven multiple-hit games. She drove in four runs in game one against Sul Ross State. Rivett was named ASC Hitter of the Week once during the season.

Cowart ranked second on the team in hits (32) and batting average (.305). She owned a .348 on-base percentage and a .971 fielding percentage. She had three doubles and three sacrifice hits to go along with six walks and 14 runs. She opened the season with ten hits over six games and finished the year with seven multiple-hit games. She had a three-hit game against both Sul Ross State and Austin College. Against Sul Ross, she went 3-for-4 with two runs, a double and an RBI. Overall in that series, she hit .500.
