Howard Payne Women Score 45 Second Half Points In ASC Win

Brownwood, Texas-Howard Payne University scored 45 second half points to hand the Lady Eagles a 82-56 loss Thursday night in American Southwest Conference action.

Howard Payne (6-4, 5-2 ASC) only led 37-30 at intermission, but outscored Ozarks (2-7, 1-5 ASC) 45-26 in the second half. Howard Payne's Britani Gattis had 21 points in the second half, including nine points from long-range to give the Lady Jackets an offensive punch. Ashley Hipps' jumper at the 15:58 mark got Ozarks within 48-40 and Bryanna Moltz's three-pointer with 13:11 remaining pulled Ozarks within 50-43. However, the Lady Eagles scored just five points over the next four minutes, and Howard Payne would heat up and lead 64-48 at the 8:42  mark. The Lady Eagles hit 27 percent from the field in the second half. Howard Payne also helped itself by pulling down 50 rebounds and holding the Lady Eagles to 29 in the game.

Taylor Farmer paced Ozarks with a double-double scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Gattis finished with 34 points.

Ozarks will face Sul Ross State January 4 in Alpine, Texas.
