Concordia Women Pull Out 62-49 Win

Austin, Texas-Concordia University Texas built a 35-22 halftime lead, but had to fight off the Lady Eagles in the second half to pick up a 62-49 win Thursday in American Southwest Conference play.

Concordia (6-6, 4-5 ASC) jumped out to a 15-6 lead to start the game before the Lady Eagles (3-8, 2-6 ASC) fought back and got within 17-13 on Rashelle Goldman's three-point shot at the 10:50 mark. From that point, however, Concordia outscored Ozarks 18-9 to close out the first half.

The Lady Eagles remained close over the next 17 minutes before Concordia made a game-winning run. Jordana Andrews nailed a three-pointer at the 9:10 mark to pull Ozarks within 39-36. Concordia made a run to hold a double-digit advantage, but Ozarks again fought back, this time behind a pair of Ashley Hipps free throws, to make it 53-47 with just 2:34 remaining in the game. But Concordia closed out the game with a decisive 9-2 run to secure the contest.

Goldman led Ozarks with 13 points and hit 3-of-6 from the three-point line. Hipps and Taylor Farmer added 10 points.

The Lady Eagles will travel to Belton, Texas, to face Mary Hardin-Baylor January 11.
