Lady Eagles Close Out Game With 15-5 Run

Clarksville, Ark.-Five players reached double figures and the Lady Eagles outscored Mississippi College 42-27 in the second half to pick up a 73-65 win Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.

"We really needed this win," said head coach Carl Ramsey. "Hopefully a win like this will give us some momentum and help us start the second half of the season out well. I thought in the first half we did some nice things, but Mississippi College had too many second chance points. We cleaned some things up in the second half and we got some shots to fall. We settled in and I thought we handled their pressure at the end of the game well."

Ozarks (4-10, 3-8 ASC) trailed 38-31 at the half, but came out in the second half and hit 53 percent of its shots. The Lady Eagles opened the second half with a 9-2 run to tie the contest, 40-40, with 14:58 left in the game. Later, Ozarks held a 44-40 advantage after Jordana Andrews hit two free throws with 13:02 left. Mississippi College (6-8, 4-7 ASC) eventually took the lead back, but shots by Tamara Wilkett and Anisha Johnson fueled Ozarks to move ahead 56-53 with 7:14 left. The Lady Choctaws took another lead, 60-58, with less than five minutes left, but Ozarks took control after that. Ozarks scored 15 points in the final 4:32, while holding the Lady Choctaws to five points. Four different Ozarks' players scored during that span.

Wilkett finished with a team-high 17 points. Ashley Hipps had 13 points and Kindra Davis and RaShelle Goldman added 12 points. Taylor Farmer finished with 11 points. Goldman and Wilkett combined for seven three-pointers in the win.

"Tamara started out great today and RaShelle hit some big three-pointers off the bench," said Ramsey. "And overall it was a good team effort."

Ozarks will host Texas-Dallas Monday at 1:00 pm.
