Lady Eagles Eliminated From ASC Playoffs

Tyler, Texas-The U of O women's basketball team got within four points at the six minute mark of the second half, but couldn't get any closer as Mary Hardin-Baylor pulled out 81-72 win to eliminate the Lady Eagles from the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Friday in Tyler, Texas.

Mary Hardin-Baylor (17-9) led 63-51 with 8:22 left in the game before Ozarks (10-16) made a run to close the gap to 65-61. Tamara Wilkett hit a three-pointer and Taylor Farmer followed with a layup to make it 63-56. Another basket by Wilkett and a Farmer three-point play put the Lady Eagles within 65-61. However, UMHB made just enough plays to secure the win.

Ozarks trailed early in the game as Mary Hardin-Baylor took a 10-5 advantage five minutes into action. Kindra Davis carried Ozarks in the first half and had a double-double at intermission. Davis missed just two shots from the field and scored 17 points while grabbing 10 rebounds in the first half alone. UMHB, however, held a 45-39 lead at the half.

The Lady Eagles hung around early in the second half before going into an offensive slump. Ozarks eventually caught up, but never took the lead in the second half.

Davis finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Wilkett and Farmer added 13 points, while Ashley Hipps finished with 10 points.
